| King Of
France Charles III FRANCE
(879-929) |
King Of France Charles III FRANCE
Charles was still a young boy when
his half brother, King Carloman died in 884 and his cousin, Charles "the Fat" in
888. Since Charles was too young to rule as king, Eudes, the Count of Paris, was
crowned King of France instead of Charles. There was a rebellion against Eudes'
rule and Charles became the co-ruler of France until Eudes died in 898 and
Charles became the sole king. However, Charles' reign was not successful. In
order to stop the Norse raids, he gave the city and territory of Rouen
(Normandy) to the Norse leader, Rollo. Charles married Eadgifu ENGLAND, daughter of Edward I ENGLAND and EDGIFU. (Eadgifu ENGLAND was born in 902 and died about 953.) |
