Walter Stewart Sixth High Stewart of Scotland

Walter, sixth High Stewart of Scotland, was born in 1292. In conjunction with Sir James Douglas he commanded one of the divisionsof the Scottish army at Bannockburn in 1314, and in the following year received from Robert I, The Bruce ( King of Scotland ), the hand of his daughter the Lady Marjory Bruce, in marriage. He took part in all the principal episodes in the War of Independence against Eddward II ,notable in the defense of Berwick against a great English army, and acted as Regent of Scotland during King Robert's absence in Ireland. He died on April 9, 1326, at the early age of thirty- three.

Walter Stewart was the son of James Stewart, Lord High Stewart of Scotland, and Egidia Burgh, sister of Richard de Burgh, Earl of Ulster. ( The Scots Peerage, Edited by Sir James Balfour SPaul, 1904,Vol I, pp 13,14)

Walter married Isabel GRAHAM. (Isabel GRAHAM was born about 1300 in Abercorn, Linlithgow, West Lothian, Scotland.)

Walter next married Princess Of Scots Marjorie BRUCE, daughter of King Of Scots Robert I DE BRUCE and Isabel Matilda DE MAR, in 1315. (Princess Of Scots Marjorie BRUCE was born in 1296 and died on 2 Mar 1315-1316.)
