        5.  Melvina Chambless, born May 1835 in Alabama; died in Yell Co., Arkansas.  She was the daughter of 10. Hardy Chambless and 11. Nancy C. Williams.

 

Notes for Jesse Broaddrick:

Was not listed in the 1880 Census. Jesse was shot and killed when he had taken out after an outlaw. The outlaw had assaulted a woman in town. Jesse was believed to be acting as a Marshal. He went after the outlaw before the posse was formed, Found the outlaw on a mountain point, both looking at each other and talking. Then their muzzle loading rifles, took aim and shot each other. Both men died later in the towns post office, awaiting the doctor.

The above story has no supporting documentation verifying the story. This story has been told and passed down to several of the children and grandchildren of Jesse, and now the great grandchildren. Further research will be conducted to verify the validity of this story.
